It still has the 'Zbrojovka Brno, A.S. Markings on the receiver side wall. The bolts serial TR2837 leads me to believe at least the bolt was from a Romanian contract rifle. The receiver serial is hard to read exactly what it is and the numbers look like ones you would see on Russian Nagants. Oct 25, 2020 Your description very helpful indeed, 90 is stamped there next to proof stamp. This rifle is marked as cz527 on breech where bolt head locks, however on left side of breech directly above magazine also stamped Brno arms factory. Is this usual, having two makers names, albeit one morphed into the other? The E (lion)28 stamp is the final inspection and acceptance mark of the Czech military, the 28 is the year 1928. VZ 24 production started in 1925- 26 era so you have a very early one. The serial also shows this with the Z1 suffix. They made 9999 rifles with a letter after and then started over with the next letter.
